all about juice cleanses

Curious about starting a juice cleanse or a Detox package but not sure where to start? As one of Ireland's top juice cleanse providers, we've put together some information on how a juice cleanse works and so much more.
Our juice cleanse packages involve consuming cold-pressed juices and/or soups / salads / hotpots for period of 3 -5 days. Here's a general idea of how it works:

Preparation: Before starting a juice cleanse, we advise, where possible, to gradually eliminate processed, sugary foods and caffeine from your diet to ease the transition. This will make the detox process a little easier.

Consumption: We provide a wide range of fruit and vegatables in our juices / soups / salads and hotpots to ensure optimum nutritional intake over the course of your cleanse. Aditionally, we blend some of our ingredients into our juices to maintain fiber.

Hydration: We encourage plenty of water over the course of your cleanse to stay hydrated and flush out toxins. Herbal teas are also allowed.

Post-Cleanse Transition: Breaking the cleanse is important. Ease yourself back into solid food, choosing whole food, plant based options ideally and maintain juice intake where possible.

It's always best to consult with a healthcare professional before attempting a juice cleanse, especially for individuals with underlying health conditions.
In addition to breaking the cycle of unhealthy food cravings, adding juces into your daily diet can do so much more. Below you'll find some of the benefits and health improvements that juice packages provide.

Eases food decision-making

Juicing focuses on consuming fresh whole food produce every few hours and reduces the enslavement of thinking constantly about what the next meal is going to be. Not only do we feel sated, but realise we are no longer slaves to our addictions with (often very harmful) foods. This is one of our favorite benefits of a juice cleanse.

Juice cleanses flood our body with super nutrition

Being on an all-produce diet gives us not only the vitamins and minerals but the all-important phytonutrients that are powerhouses for the clean- up and healing process. Juices are by nature raw foods and retain nutrients that would be destroyed by cooking, including some B vitamins and especially (digestive and anti-inflammatory) enzymes.

Juice cleanses lead to a healthy weight

As you are feeling better and having more energy, you also naturally lose weight. Some of this is water bloat, but also some is fat. A juice cleanse (three days minimum) is a great way to jump start a diet. It not only helps control appetite and cravings, but is naturally lower in calories, while supplying the body with probably more concentrated beneficial energizing and healing nutrients than it has seen before.

Reduce physical problems

You begin to feel generally better, not just with your energy, but with many chronic symptoms such as headaches, rashes, general aches, congested sinuses and chest, and bloating/cramping/gas. Too much of the time our body is fighting off the things we do to it (especially with food but also with lack of sleep, inactivity and stress). Take a break, rest the body (and mind) and flood it with nutrients.

Allow maximum detoxification

To optimally support all phases of the body’s natural detox process, you need a very broad range of plant-supplied nutrients like anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories. By providing the body with super-nutrient dense foods juicing allows the body to have more of the resources it needs to support the phases of detoxification, and even to begin to help remove the cumulative toxins stored in the body—130 industrial chemicals on average in a European person’s bloodstream.

Starting a juice cleanse can heal our cells

Switching to an fresh, plant-based diet allows cells to work optimally to re-establish efficient internal messaging and manufacturing processes, allowing the mitochondria to create energy without having to fight off a plethora of free radicals, inflammation, and reducing some of the impediments to proper DNA functioning.

Post Cleanse

You should continue to stay hydrated and drink lots of water, as well as following these tips:

After your cleanse, you can return to eating three meals a day, but continue to have at least one juice if possible.

Whether it’s a 3 or a 5 day cleanse you’ve just completed, it’s important to ease you was back into a normal eating pattern so that you maintain your results. We recommend you follow a whole grain, plant based diet for 5 days post cleanse. This involves eating foods that are minimally processed and in their purest form as much as possible.

The following foods are recommended:
- whole grains, fruits, vegetables and legumes

In Moderation:
- nuts, seeds, avocados, good quality unprocessed oils, natural sweetness and unprocessed tofu (avoid any processed soy products)

Avoid:
- Animal products such as meat, dairy and eggs
- Heavily processed foods and grains such as white rice, white flour, foods containing added sugars or artificial sweeteners and foods containing added processed fats.

Make sure you maintain protein levels through beans and pulses, grains such as brown rice and quinoa and small amounts of nuts and tofu.

Nut milks are allowed but check the container to make sure there are no hidden additives.

Drink plenty of water and herbal teas. Avoid caffeine for these 5 days.

After these 5 days are up we recommend re-introducing your regular diet back in slowly. Stick with whole foods and plants as much as possible and continue to avoid processed foods on an ongoing basis. You can start to re-introduce coffee back into your diet but continue to eat as much fresh fruit and vegetables as possible. Maintain drinking 2 litres of water each day.

FAQ's

For best results we recommend consuming liquids only for the duration of your cleanse, this includes lots of water and herbal teas. We recommend staying away from anything containing caffeine. As we blend some of our ingredients in, most people report being surprisingly full with the juices / soups however if you are struggling and do feel very hungry allow yourself to have something small to eat rather than stop the cleanse completely. We recommend keeping it as clean and non processed as possible. Eggs, fresh salad, baked fish, avocados or bananas are ideal.

The key to maintaining your results is to ease yourself back into normal eating and to keep your diet as whole food based and non processed as possible. The great thing about completing a cleanse is that it tends to change your eating patterns in terms of what your body will crave naturally. You will find yourself naturally craving more healthy food options so lean into this and use it as an opportunity to clean up your diet. Your cravings for processed, sugary foods should diminish and you will find yourself naturally craving more fruit and vegetables. We also offer a post cleanse maintenance plan for those who wish for a little more help with maintenance: Maintenance Plan

For the days prior to starting your cleanse it is best to cut down on caffeine, alcohol and processed, sugary foods. This will ensure that your body’s reaction to the detox process won’t be as severe. Drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins.

As it is a detox for your body it is best no cut out caffeine for the few days prior to your cleanse as well as the duration of your cleanse. You may substitute this for herbal and caffeine tree teas. It is also best not to consume any carbonated drinks for the duration of your cleanse.

We recommend no heavy exercise or training for the duration of your cleanse. This is solely because your daily calorie intake will be cut, therefore if you burn excessive calories through training, you are more likely to be hungry and break the cleanse. Instead we recommend light exercise such as walking, gentle yoga / pilates or swimming.
